Haris Farooq

Founder & Developer of Construction Nest

SEO Specialist · Web Developer · BBIT Student

I'm Haris Farooq, the founder and developer behind Construction Nest.

I work at the intersection of SEO, web development, calculator development, technical research, and digital publishing. I created Construction Nest to build practical online tools and resources that make construction calculations easier to perform, understand, and verify.

I currently study Bachelor of Business & Information Technology (BBIT) while independently developing and maintaining Construction Nest.

My Role at Construction Nest

As the person responsible for the website, I work across several areas:

  • Researching construction calculation methods
  • Developing calculator logic and functionality
  • Testing calculator results and unit conversions
  • Researching technical references and sources
  • Writing and editing calculation guides
  • Developing the website and user interface
  • Managing technical SEO
  • Improving calculator usability
  • Monitoring and maintaining published resources

Because Construction Nest is independently operated, I am directly involved in the development, testing, research, publishing, and maintenance of the calculators and content on the site.

My Areas of Expertise

My professional and technical focus is primarily in technology, SEO, web development, calculator development, and digital content.

I work on technical SEO, content structure, search intent research, information architecture, internal linking, and organic search optimization.

Web Development

I develop the website, calculator interfaces, calculation logic, supporting functionality, and technical infrastructure used by Construction Nest.

Calculator Development

I research formulas and calculation methods, translate them into usable calculator logic, test different input scenarios, and document the assumptions and methodology used by each tool.

Technical Content

I create and maintain educational resources that explain construction calculations, formulas, units, examples, and practical considerations in a way intended to be understandable and useful.

Construction Experience & Practical Research

My professional background is in technology, SEO, web development, and information technology. However, my work on Construction Nest also draws from practical exposure to construction work through my family and related construction projects.

Through these experiences, I have been exposed to real-world questions involving measurements, materials, quantities, estimates, and day-to-day construction work.

I also communicate with people who work directly in construction, including masons, laborers, tradespeople, and others with hands-on experience. These conversations help me understand how construction calculations and measurements are actually approached in the field.

I use this practical perspective as an additional source of insight alongside technical research, published references, mathematical formulas, and calculator testing.

This does not mean I represent myself as a licensed construction professional. Rather, it helps me develop resources that address practical situations and questions encountered during real construction work.

Important Qualification & Scope

My formal background is in technology and information technology rather than professional construction engineering.

I do not claim to be a licensed engineer, architect, contractor, or other regulated construction professional.

Construction Nest calculators are primarily practical calculation and educational tools. Results can depend on project conditions, materials, measurement methods, assumptions, and local requirements.

Calculations involving structural safety, engineering design, building-code compliance, or other professional judgment should be independently verified by an appropriately qualified professional.

How I Approach Calculator Accuracy

I don't treat a calculator as simply a form that produces a number. Each tool is designed to provide a calculation that is understandable, testable, and useful in practical construction situations.

For each calculator, I work through the underlying calculation method and document, where appropriate:

  • The formula used
  • Input units
  • Unit conversions
  • Assumptions
  • Worked examples
  • Calculation methodology
  • Limitations
  • Supporting references

I test calculator logic using multiple input scenarios before publication.

Where practical, I also consult with people who have hands-on construction experience, including masons, laborers, tradespeople, and other construction workers. For relevant calculators, I compare calculator results with calculations and measurements used in actual construction situations.

Feedback from multiple people and real-world scenarios can help identify practical issues, incorrect assumptions, unit misunderstandings, or results that require further investigation.

This practical verification is used alongside formula research, reference materials, and software testing. It does not replace project-specific engineering, professional judgment, building codes, or advice from appropriately qualified professionals where those are required.

Calculators are revisited when errors are identified, useful feedback is received, methodology or assumptions change, or improvements can make a tool more accurate and useful.

Articles & Calculators

I create and maintain Construction Nest's calculators and supporting resources across areas such as:

  • Concrete
  • Excavation
  • Gravel
  • Roofing
  • Flooring
  • Drywall
  • Lumber
  • Landscaping
  • Construction materials
  • Construction estimating
  • Measurement and conversion

My content development combines technical research, calculator testing, practical construction exposure, and conversations with people who work directly in the field.

For construction-related content, I may consult with multiple people who have hands-on experience, including masons, laborers, tradespeople, and others involved in day-to-day construction work. Their practical knowledge helps me understand how measurements, materials, terminology, calculations, and construction practices are used in real situations.

I also draw on construction work and projects I have experienced through my family and related activities. These experiences provide practical context, while technical references, mathematical methods, and independent research are used to develop and verify the underlying information.

The goal is to create resources that are both technically understandable and practically useful.

Where a topic requires professional engineering judgment, project-specific assessment, code interpretation, or other specialized professional advice, the content clearly identifies those limitations and should not be treated as a substitute for a qualified professional.

Content & AI-Assisted Work

Technology, including AI-assisted tools, may be used during parts of the research, development, organization, editing, or content-production workflow.

AI tools are not presented as the author of Construction Nest content. Published calculators and resources are reviewed, edited, tested, and maintained as part of the Construction Nest workflow.

AI-assisted tools may help with tasks such as organizing information, identifying areas for further research, improving wording, or supporting development. Technical calculations, formulas, assumptions, and final published content remain subject to human review and testing.

The goal is to use technology to improve the development process while keeping the final resource useful, understandable, and transparent.

Corrections & Feedback

If you believe I have made an error in a calculation, formula, explanation, or other published information, please contact Construction Nest.

When an issue is identified, I investigate the underlying calculation or content and make corrections where appropriate.
